BlackCupid Membership Base
Compared to many of the sites we review, BlackCupid is relatively small, with only thousands (not millions) of members worldwide. The website is run by Cupid Media, an online media company that manages 32 other niche dating sites in addition to BlackCupid. The site itself appears to be mainly directed towards Black singles looking for serious, long-term relationships with the potential for something more. Of course, the site doesn’t discriminate, so non-Black singles are still allowed to join the site, assuming they’re interested in finding & dating a Black boy or girlfriend, but here they are only 5-10% of the userbase.
Who Uses BlackCupid
As mentioned above, the BlackCupid dating site is mainly for Black singles looking for long-term love. Women should have no trouble finding a match on this site since they make up the minority of the dating pool. However, the site does offer a few categories to let other people know what you’re seeking: “Penpal,” “Friendship,” “Romance/Dating,” and “Long Term Relationship.” Using these designations in your profile will help you connect with other people interested in the same things on BlackCupid, rather than having an inbox full of interested singles when you only want friendship.
BlackCupid Sign Up Process
Signing up for the BlackCupid dating service is extremely fast & only takes a few minutes. To begin, simply navigate to the BlackCupid home page. You can scroll down to the bottom & click “Find Your Match,” or click on the “Login” button in the upper-righthand corner of the page, which will take you to a page with a “Join Now” link. Click here, and then provide your basic account information. You’ll need your first name, gender, partner preference, age, email, & password. Take the time to review this information before clicking the “View Singles Now” button. Alternatively, you can also sign up using your Facebook profile.
Completing Your BlackCupid Profile
After you’ve made an account, you’ll be prompted to upload a picture. After that, you can begin filling out your profile! Your location has been auto-selected for you based on your IP address, but sometimes this system will get it wrong, so it’s worth a review anyway. Each BlackCupid profile has a bunch of information fields you can fill out, ranging from basic information to specifics such as body art, occupation, or pets. You can also add a heading to your profile, describe yourself, and say what you’re searching for in a partner.
The home page of BlackCupid will give you plenty of local singles to review right from the start. However, if you’re looking for something specific, then there’s also a search feature you can use, which allows you to use dating filters like age, appearance, or lifestyle to find your perfect match. The matching process itself on BlackCupid is fairly simple. Once you find someone you like, you can either send them a message or let them know you’re interested via a “Like.” You can even like specific pictures they have posted or add them to your Favorites list to find them later on.
Messaging on BlackCupid
Unfortunately, BlackCupid doesn’t allow free members to use the chat feature of its dating site for free. However, once you have a membership, you can talk to as many singles as you want. Unlike other sites, BlackCupid only allows you to send text-based messages, but it does offer one unique feature: Cupid Introductions! This feature is essentially an introduction you write yourself, which can then be re-sent at the click of a button. If you’re tired of writing the same thing over and over again, then you’re sure to appreciate this feature!
One of the nice things about BlackCupid is that it doesn’t limit you solely to paying by credit card. You can also pay using a PaySafe Card, Skrill, or bank transfer. Since membership offers a lot more features (such as unlimited messaging and message translation), you’ll probably be considering upgrading your dating account very quickly. Plans are relatively affordable, starting at $19.98 for a single month of membership. You can get better deals by purchasing a long-term plan, such as the three-month plan for $39.97 or the year-long plan for $79.95 (or $6.66 per month). We think the experience is worth the price.
BlackCupid Reviews
“I use BlackCupid for all my dating needs. The site is full of great matches, which is much different than other apps like Tinder.”
“I found my man on here! We hit it off right away, and now we’ve been going out for over 5 months!”
“Online dating works, but only if you know what sites to use. Sadly, this wasn’t one of those sites.”
Although it’s smaller than many of the other dating sites we review, BlackCupid still has a lot of potential when it comes to connecting Black singles online. Unlike many dating sites, the membership prices are actually affordable, & despite the limited number of features on the site, the service works fine just the way it is. Our advice is to give it a try; it’s light on your pocket, at least! Still, if you have an extra $10 to spare on a site with a slightly more equal male-to-female ratio and more users, maybe you should do that.
How old do I need to be to join BlackCupid?
You must be at least 18 to join the BlackCupid dating service.
Is BlackCupid Free?
The site offers some free features, but you will have to upgrade in order to enjoy unlimited messaging.
Is there a BlackCupid mobile app, and is it safe?
Currently, the dating service has an app for Android devices but not for Windows or iOS devices. Yet Cupid media is well-known for its digital security, so you’ll be safe enough!
